KURIOOZ paper chase ? Explore, Learn, Enjoy

FR - A new cultural and fun tourism offering, KURIOOZ treasure hunts are a fun way to discover destinations.

KuriozzCo-founded in 2022 by “former Collias mayor Benoît Garrec, Tourist Office administrator, IT developer and interactive games expert” and Jacques Desplat, designer and art director, KURIOOZ lets everyone “explore towns and villages while having fun, discovering heritage and secrets through games, quizzes and surprises.

Passionate about nature, adventure and culture, and organizer of tourist rallies, adventure raids and corporate sports challenges”, Benoît Garrec shares his love of the region through the app for smartphones or tablets, with carefully concocted paper chases with his alter ego, Jacques Desplat.

Today, Collias, Uzès and Nîmes are on the KURIOOZ starting line, but what about tomorrow? Montpellier, Arles, La Roque-sur-Cèze, Montclus but also, further afield, Aix-en-Provence, Marseille or Figeac... To be continued.

Kuriooz jeu de piste uzes l essentiel okCome on, we're off. Do you want to follow us?

Registered on the website, code inserted and phone in hand, we're ready to go.

The ducal city can be explored with Uzès, l'essentiel itinerary, which we're testing out today. The route brings us closer to the town's history, taking us from the Moutas district to the Place aux Herbes, from the Rue de la République to the Cathedral of Saint-Théodorit.

The routes “designed to be easy to follow (wether on foot, by bike, gyropod or scooter), count 20 to 30 stages” and are aimed at two categories of participants: Genius or Super Genius. So... It's up to you to choose your level to succeed in the challenge, bearing in mind that teamwork can be an excellent idea!

After starting, the stroll through Uzès' historic, cultural, gourmet and secret heritage is punctuated by the search for architectural details and ancient inscriptions, and the solving of charades, riddles and games. It's an excellent brain-teaser for the whole family, although it should be noted that the questions are aimed at a minimum age of ten.

The little extra? The old photographs presented along the way, which take us back in time. Well done for your research in the municipal archives!

Many thanks to Benoît Garrec for his collaboration on this article and for the documentation provided.

Good to know: Le quartier des marchands (The merchants' district) and Le duché et la cité épiscopale (The duchy & espiscopal city) will soon be added to KURIOOZ's Uzès offering, although we've already had a good look at them by following Uzès l'essentiel.
