FR - A sound practitioner since 2017, Delphine Acedo enjoys sharing the practice of singing bowls in workshops around the Gard region. Her credo is to open the doors to this particular musical universe to as many people as possible.
But that's not all. Certified in the Peter Hess® method and a member of the Fédération Francophone des Praticiens du massage sonore Peter Hess® (FFPPH), Delphine Acedo also enjoys introducing the concept during sound relaxation sessions, whether in groups or individually.
'The Peter Hess method is the result of 40 years of applied research conducted by Peter Hess, mainly in Germany, with all the practitioner-researchers. It is based on the use of handcrafted bowls, the quality of which is an important factor in the effectiveness of Peter Hess® sound massage.' source

Singing bowl concerts
Singing bowl concerts are a perfect blend of singing bowls, crystal bowls, gongs, crystal veena, sansula, tubalophone, Koshi chimes, and other instruments...
“In my sound massage practice, I only use Peter HESS® singing bowls. I bring crystal bowls only to concerts, sound baths, and guided relaxation sessions. During guided relaxation, crystal accompanies energy work and visualization (harmonization/cleansing/chakra, aura, etc.)" explains Delphine.
"The difference between metal and crystal bowls lies in their manufacture and composition. Metal singing bowls produce richer, deeper tones, while quartz crystal bowls produce purer, more crystalline notes.
To make a singing bowl, molten metal is first poured onto a flat stone and then, after cooling, worked with a hammer and a pad to obtain a round shape. The metal is then stretched to its breaking point.
The alloy used is composed of seven metals, each representing a planet in the solar system. This is why they are sometimes called planetary bowls:
The Peter HESS bowls I use are handcrafted in Tibet, Nepal, and India and are composed of 12 metals:
- Gold (Sun/Sunday/crown chakra).
- Silver (Moon/Monday/third eye chakra).
- Iron (Mars/Tuesday/solar plexus chakra),
- Mercury (Mercury/Wednesday/throat chakra).
- Tin (Jupiter/Thursday/spleen chakra).
- Copper (Venus/Friday/heart chakra).
- Lead (Saturn/Saturday/root chakra).
- and 5 metals important in Buddhism: Zinc, meteoric iron, bismuth, galena, and pyrite.
"After undergoing specific forging techniques and passing through many other stages, the singing bowl achieves its desired degree of hardness and optimal surface quality. The sound of the bowl becomes particularly harmonious after several heat treatments. Manual scrubbing, i.e., polishing that brings out the shine of the bowl's surface, refines the sound." Crystal bowls are made of quartz crystal: Silica, also known as silicon dioxide, is heated to over 4,000°C in furnaces and then poured into a mold to give it the desired shape. The crystallized version of silica is called rock crystal or quartz, so the singing bowl produced in this way is called a quartz crystal bowl" adds Delphine.
The vibrations and sound frequencies promote deep relaxation and reharmonize both the body and mind... Sound therapy (a practice that began to gain popularity around the 1970s and is sometimes used in hospitals in palliative care units) has many benefits, but it is not a substitute for medical treatment or psychotherapy.

Relaxing body and mind
Vibrations and frequencies gradually promote deep relaxation and reharmonize both body and mind, while also stimulating the natural defenses. Stress reduction, pain relief, improved sleep—the body's inner strength is regenerated.
Furthermore, it should be remembered that “as the body is mainly composed of water, it acts as a conductor, allowing the vibrations to spread through the cells. The micro-vibrations propagate to the bones... The lower the sound, the more it influences the lower body, whereas the higher the sound, the more it influences the upper body” (Santé magazine).
Take care of yourself during a sound break. A gentle method for deep relaxation.

About the sessions...
"The primary purpose of sound massage is to be a method of deep relaxation. It addresses the body, soul, and spirit. It helps prevent stress, promotes self-awareness, and supports recovery processes, providing gentle and complementary support to any medical treatments:
- Deep relaxation,
- Facilitates “letting go” – physically and mentally,
- Harmonization, regeneration, revitalization,
- Supports and improves body awareness,
- Can activate unused resources,
- Boosts self-confidence, creativity, and motivation,
- Promotes 'joie de vivre' and creativity.
The benefits can therefore be manifold. According to the feedback I have received, and with regular practice (for lasting effects), the effects observed are letting go during the session, release of tension, reduction of stress, and a feeling of serenity and lasting calm.
On average, I recommend a first approach of three massages, once a week, twice a month, then three massages once a month (or every three weeks).
Of course, the approach is personalized and adapted to each individual, as there is no “right” way to experience sound massage. Each person is unique and may therefore experience sound massage differently, depending on their sensitivity, their needs at the time, and their own pace. For this reason, a sound massage session includes a discussion before and after the session ".
About the bowls: Singing bowls, also known as Tibetan singing bowls, were first used as traditional instruments in Buddhist schools in the Himalayan regions and northern India.

Sound massages
Once the patient is lying on the massage table, Delphine strikes the singing bowl(s) placed on their body with a mallet. The sounds and vibrations then gently spread throughout the body.
In addition to the massage table, it is also possible to enjoy sound massages in a seated position, on an ergonomic chair that is particularly suitable for the back (or in a wheelchair, according to adapted protocols), for rapid relaxation. Whether at the practice, at home, or at work, the person enjoys a personalized massage for 10, 20, or 30 minutes.
Finally, there are specific massages for bedridden people: the bowls are placed on and/or around the person.
In all cases, and as far as possible, a suitable massage room will always be preferable to any other location. However, an outdoor massage, if the location is quiet, can be a wonderful experience.
