‘Watercolour painting, or the art of observation... It requires both patience and lightness’... (Alexis Boisset)

Let's chat
Hello Alexis,
First of all, could you tell us about your career path...
‘My artistic training at the EID School of Design in Toulon taught me the basics of drawing and painting. After that, I honed my skills through diligent and continuous personal work.’
After devoting yourself to other works, you decided to turn back to watercolour...
‘Yes, indeed. I didn't pick up my brushes again until around 2024. But since then, I have continued to develop my technique, particularly in watercolour, an art form I love for its spontaneity, transparency and ability to convey emotions.’
|
‘The light of Occitania is present in every brushstroke. Here, the colour lays itself down...’ (Alexis Boisset)
|
Your paintings are dedicated to Occitan heritage...
‘My work is inspired by Occitan heritage, where the southern light and landscapes combine to create a certain captivating je ne sais quoi. And then I pay particular attention to Uzès, of course!’
|
'The details are the moment when everything is revealed: the shadows, the textures, the little touches that bring the subject to life. Then comes the signature... that simple but highly symbolic gesture...' (Alexis Boisset)

In addition to your personal creations, you also teach courses at L'échoppe des artistes and the Université Populaire d'Uzès, don't you?
'For more than two years, I have been offering watercolour courses at the Université Populaire de l'Uzège, but also at L'échoppe des artistes.
In summertime, I also organise outdoor watercolour courses, which allow participants to fully enjoy the charms of the ducal city and its surroundings. We work mainly on motifs, in the heart of the local landscapes. We are really lucky!'
