Let's go for a beer tasting with Stéphanie & Alain

Le Piège: an adventure, a match

From a desire for a change of lifestyle to a family project, Le Piège has evolved since its opening in 2020. Born from the love encounter between Stéphanie and Alain, Le Piège also represents a choice to settle in Uzès, both for its town centre and their shared wish to return to the south of France.

In this unique and steeped-in-history setting, Stéphanie and Alain “welcome, guide and share their knowledge” (Alain being a beer expert for 15 years) to offer you a unique and memorable beer experience.

Between hidden gems and tradition

Whether hidden gems or more traditional beers, Le Piège promises the discovery of craft and limited-edition brews, “because we want to surprise and delight our customers, taking them on a journey around the world, starting from Uzès” say Alain and Stéphanie.

While oenology refers to the study of wines, zythology refers to the study and tasting of beers.

In total, 250 varieties, 40 breweries and microbreweries, with a clear focus on fruity or tangy flavours. Any examples? “We’re big fans of breweries like Alefarm in Denmark, the Basque brewery Gross in Spain, or even Garden in Croatia” the couple explain.

Did you know? The EBC (European Brewery Convention) is a scale used to classify beers on a scale of 1 to 140 according to their colour:

the higher the number, the darker the beer. As for the IBU (International Bitterness Unit),

this is the value used to measure a beer’s bitterness: the higher it is, the more bitter the beer.

Accompanied by small homemade dishes or tapas prepared by Stéphanie, a chef who is never short of inspiration, the couple invites you to make the most of the moment.
With its friendly bar, cosy sofas and tables for friends, Le Piège offers a cosy atmosphere, perfectly suited to the tastes of all guests.

“To each their own beer: Mild, bitter, quirky, sweet, fragrant” (Le Piège)

Ale, Gose, IPA (Indian Pale Ale) and NEIPA (New England IPA), Lager, Stout, WeizenLe Piège proves to be a beer bar that is unique, or kind of, in the region, as Alain’s catalogue of craft beers allows him to select the limited-edition brew he’s missing, knowing that, before introducing a new brewery (one that stands out particularly for its culinary signature) he must first take part in tastings at the brewery or attend beer festivals.

Prioritising passion over mass appeal, Stéphanie and Alain reserve the right to whisk you away into a world of flavours for introductory sessions that are brimming with that distinctive flavour (flaveur in French) which lies ‘between taste (perceived by the tongue) and aroma (perceived by the nose)’ allowing you to gain a deeper understanding of the brewers’ craft.

Le Piège also sometimes serves as a wine cellar, with a fine selection of local wines. “We do indeed host wine-tasting evenings featuring natural wines from small local producers who have won us over (such as Domaine Establet or Domaine Le Chat Huant)".

Le Piège is also an intimate concert venue for music lovers (for example, featuring the eclectic and electric duo The Freaks or other small local bands) and an exhibition space, notably showcasing photographs displayed beneath the salon’s vaulted ceilings (including the black-and-white series by @saloméwithacamera) and participation in events such as the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride “with motorcyclists from around the world to raise funds and raise awareness of prostate cancer and men’s mental health, as part of Movember”.
